It is again announced an exhibition in Spain – and an important one!

To become Spanish Champion is not easy: you need 4 CAC under 3 different judges – one CAC ( punto obligatorio) must be made in Madrid or on a second show accordingly set on a other place by the RSCE – and a further “Excellent” at the Monografica ( the annual Specialty Show of the Spanish Newfoundland Club CETR). In former times there was only twice Madrid, but after it turned out that only with Madrid it was very difficult to achieve the Championship, the RSCE (Real Sociedad Canina de Espana) nominated once per year an addional show, alternating in the south and in the north. So this time Granada was announced. For us naturally a reason to drive towards the south.

Granada! Who didn`t hear yet of it??!  Former center of the Arabic Empire in Spain, until in the 15th century it was wiped out by the “Catholic Kings”. Everyone of us red or saw surely much over it in TV, this wonderwork of the Arabic civilisation in Europe. We wanted to regard it to us with own eyes. We had about 400 km before us, corresponding to the time of the year through the most beautiful fields of the almond bloom dusted all over in soft pink and white ( if you ever have th occasion to visit South Spain at this season, DO IT!)

Early Saturday mornings we stood at the entrance of the Alhambra, the old Arabic palace above Granada, but nevertheless before us already an endless visitor queue before the cashes. Patience was in demand at these crowds! We ran for hours through this beautiful place and its park , impressing from beginning to end! We had to tear ourselves from this wonderful place, neverthe less our doggies were waiting for us in our car and didn`t want to be strained. The next day was “Show Time”

Well, here in Granada it was possible to achieve this “punto Obligatoro” for the Spanish champioship, accordingly a large exhibition! In 2 days about 2000 dogs with several Specialities. There already much organization was in demand. Two large halls were available. We didn`t have our Newfies with us, only our Basenjis, group 5.Our little bitch was alone in her class and was critically judged – CAC,CACIB and Best of Breed – everything how we expected and thus we had a new Campeona de Espana!

After this we hurried in the other hall to watch the judging if the Newfies – the youth we missed already, but Open Class Males (Abierta Machos) was in full course. An easily aggressive male reached the first place:

Yefrey of the Ours Sauveteurs                   B. a. O.: G. van Leuven

In the Intermedia Bitches Class  ( 15-24 months)   winner was:

Dhydra di Borgoleonardo                           B.: Mazza   O.:   Solana-Pons

12 bitches in Open Class ( from 15 months up) were fighting for victory, with the first and second place of the judge decision we went conformal, however we could not follow completely the further placements. Here the winner:

Geminorum Ucraina   -    B.u.O.: A. Griffa

This very beautiful prepared and shown black/white bitch  won the BOB

The male obtained the BOS.  Both dogs naturally received their Punto Obligatorio, a step to the Campeon de Espana. Judge was Don Manuel Ramirez Munoz from Spain.

The aggresivity of the male and despite his high placement had very much annoyed the spanish exhibitors. After the show signatures for an objection were collected.

Like always there were disappointed faces, but the Monografica is approaching, on 10th March nearby Madrid and an Excellent is here a Must. We will try to convey also from there some results.
