Monografica 2002

The Club Espanol DeL Terranova invited to his XVII. Clubshow. As it was last year it was in Navacerrada again in the north of Madrid, in air spa placed on the borders of a lake. As judge was invited Mr. Manlio Massa from Italy, well known under breeders with his kennel name “Cayuga”.

This show was a “Must” for the Spanish Championship ( at least an “excellent”), therefore the 550 km were no problem for me. Darkness at the Mediterranean Sea, dam light in La Mancha, morning light in Madrid and then in Navacerrada the first Terranovas, stiff like me after the long journey. Some of the exhibitors I met already several times, a large “hello” however with Luis Amador Fernadez / president of the Cetr (Club Espanol del Terranova) and his secretary Enrice Gomez, we met already in 2001 at the “ Gold Cup” in Casteggio/Italy. In a large gymnasium  41 Newfoundlands – shown by 28 owners , also from France and Italy – stood in competition to one another. It started with the class “Muy Cachorros” (Puppy Class) : 4 little males out of the kennel: “De Las Cases Pairals”, all born Oct. 25th 2001. Further it went blow on blow. The decisions of Manlio Massa were devided unanimously by the exhibitors. In each group he again presented the three best ones and clarified why he had so decided. Be pleasantly to be seen that there were no political decisions, but rather counted only the dog. “ Standing Ovation” were for a very old lady, “Yara de Arait”, born Dec. 10th, 1990!

It was a pretty and harmonious day, also if 550 km  return trips lay yet before me. Perhaps we do meet German exhibitors at this show one day? Could be very interesting.

 Hasta luego, amigos !!!
