About us

We always have had dogs, among others.

Jürgen grew up with dachshunds of all variations who unfortunately never reached a very high age because they devoted their life to biting driving past cars into pieces, got involved in a fight with a wild boar or similar terrible things.

I grew up with Scottish Terriers, Springer Spaniels and a lot of Poodles. I brought one of them into our marriage then, Yorkshire Terriers, Boxers followed but we have always had a Berner Sennenhund with them, too. For almost 30 years its name was always “Tine”. Tscha and then we stumbled over Basenjis some time – “from that time on things went downhill…”. No! Basenjis can be a strain but somehow you become their slave, they are so clever and have so much taken on a life of their own. Only warm-hearted dogs like the Berner or … the Newfoundland are well suited to them.  We got him utterly accidentally. Our Tine III had died and the whole house was filled with wailing and sobbing. I called whole Europe but no Tine was available. But a Neufi up in the Friesenland – we accepted and in the same evening there was a call from the Schwabenland: a Tine was available. What should we do now? I passed a judgement: where one big dog has a place, a second big dog has a place, too. So we had a Berner AND a Neufi additional to Basenjis. An extremely dear friendship, the two big ones grew up like twins. Unfortunately the last Tine died very early, it almost broke our Neufi´s heart. So a second one, a third one came very soon – but now it is enough!

How we came to Spain

Very simple: by a little holiday house we have already had one leg in Spain since 1978. One year ago Jürgen and I got a hard slap in the face from the Good Lord, that means that Jürgen had 2 heart attacks and I had nothing nice, too. After that we got a little thoughtful, we have only one life and all this fussing around are really not necessary. Since Jürgen was over 60 he retired a few years earlier and could stop working, too.

Now we live in total “unretirement” with all the animals here in Spain and hope to be able to enjoy all this for a little while.

Everything started with Clärchen…

She – Int. Ch. Charissa of Windimere Wrinkles, black/white – came into our house as our first dog in 1985, in the following year her sister Danah followed, tricolour, and in 1987 our first male dog  Int. Ch., Lux. Ch. Akuaba`s High Flying Dawn-Ri, Speedy, a Tricolor-Male Dog from the USA.

And in 1988 the first “Brassica-Basenjis” appeared – and then in 1989 and in 1991 and so on, and so on. In the meantime many “Brassica´s” are around; hopefully all of them are happy with their families and them with them.

But also in our dogs the biological clock is ticking. This is why Bow – Am., Int., Span., German VDH Ch. Akuaba´s Nite Life – American Tricolor Male-Dog – came as a blood refresher to us in 1997. He was strengthened by Breezi – Am., Lux. Ch. Ocean Breeze of Swala Pala, a little red/white French girl in 1999.

To our great sorrow Clärchen, Danah and Speedy went over the “Rainbow – Bridge” in the meantime and there they are waiting for us with all the others of our zoo until our time has come.

Bow and Breezi live with us in company with two big, black, very nice “bears”, our Newfoundlands, in the beautiful Spain.

Frya Fresena Ebony Dinka, called Bonnilein and Cayuga Wish Laura to Brassica, called Laura. Recently Bow complained about his manly inferiority with all the ladies and so in 2002 we hurried to strengthen our male squad with:

Cayuga Bandleader of Bonaventura, called Lele. He is our youngest and is a very “daring swimmer”.

Here are pictures of our adopted country Spain – around our house – view to the sea and in the surroundings.
